The Pope was in charge of all Christians. He lived in Rome. In AD 598, the Pope saw a group of Anglo-Saxon children for sale in a slave market. He noticed their beautiful blonde hair and asked where they came from. He was told that they were ‘Angles’. To this, the Pope exclaimed, “They are not Angles. They are Angels!”.
