TEACHERS' PAGE
Welcome to all Parents & Teachers

A big welcome to all parents and teachers. Many thanks for visiting 'EBK for Kids'. This is just a brief introduction in order to give everyone an idea of who we are and what we're trying to do on EBK. Please send us lots of feedback and suggestions, and tell us what the kids think too!

The Early British Kingdoms website was originally set up in 1996 for anyone interested in the period of British history commonly known as the 'Dark Ages'. At first it concentrated on the British (ie. Welsh, Cornish, Bretons, Cumbrians), but it has since expanded to encompass the Saxons, the Scots and the Picts. We were proud to launch our 'Kids' section in February 2003.

The Early British Kingdoms website has been completely designed and written and is owned and maintained by me, David Nash Ford. The Kids pages are produced in consultation with my wife, Margaret. The drawings are all drawn by me and are © Copyright of Nash Ford Publishing. Parents, teachers and children may, of course, use them freely for educational purposes. We are further able to offer colouring sheets and activity sheets in pdf format. Laminated photographs and colour drawings are also available to purchase upon request. Please e-mail us for details.

We are very aware that the three nations of Great Britain emerged during our period of study in very different ways and we hope that this is reflected in the information provided. We must apologise to those living in Northern Ireland - unfortunately, I know very little about Irish history. The site does, however, cover the Isle of Man and we hope to also reference the Channel Islands where possible. We are trying to cover all aspects of life during the 'Dark Ages' but, of course, this takes time. Subjects laid out in the National Curriculum for UK Schools have been/will be covered in greater detail. This has, so far, largely concentrated on Key Stage 2 of History Unit 6B for Year 3/4: Why have people invaded and settled in Britain in the past? We have loaded up a number of new pages based on requests from schools, so If you would like information on something we have not yet covered, please e-mail us and we'll see if we can help out.
